143 Days To Go!

Some of you might be flying in so we’ve put together this quick guide to some of Argentina’s most beautiful destinations. October and November are a fantastic time to explore — it’s spring here, with mild temperatures, wildflowers blooming in Patagonia, and pleasant weather for outdoor adventures without the peak summer crowds.

All of these places have direct flights from Buenos Aires (both Aeroparque AEP and Ezeiza EZE). We’ve also noted any useful direct connections between destinations so you can hop around without always returning to BA. Most flights are operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas, JetSMART, and Flybondi — book early for the best rates!

Mendoza (Wine Country)

World-famous for its Malbecs and stunning Andean backdrop, Mendoza is the perfect place to unwind with world-class wine. Stroll or bike through the vineyards of Maipú and Luján de Cuyo, visit iconic bodegas for tastings and lunches, and enjoy farm-to-table meals with sweeping mountain views. You can also hike gentle trails in the foothills or relax with a picnic among the vines. In spring the region is lush and vibrant with blooming flowers. Don’t miss the excellent asado (grilled meats), humitas (steamed corn cakes), and regional empanadas, all perfectly paired with local Malbec.

Recommended: 3–5 days

Vibe: Food & wine focused, relaxed with some light adventure options

Flights from BA: Very frequent direct flights (multiple per day)

Inter-destination: Seasonal direct flights to Bariloche and direct flights to Salta

Iguazú Falls (Northeast)

Home to one of the planet’s most jaw-dropping natural wonders, Iguazú features over 250 waterfalls surrounded by subtropical jungle. Walk the upper and lower circuits for close-up views, stand in awe at the thundering Devil’s Throat, and hop on a boat ride that takes you right under the cascades. Spot toucans, butterflies, and monkeys on easy jungle trails. Don’t miss the fresh river fish like surubí, along with chipá (cheesy manioc bread) and other Guaraní-inspired specialties.

Recommended: 2–4 days

Vibe: Nature & adventure (with some relaxed viewpoints)

Flights from BA: Multiple daily direct flights

Inter-destination: Limited direct connections; easiest via BA

Bariloche (Lake District)

Patagonia’s dream destination with turquoise lakes, snow-dusted peaks, and chocolate-box villages. Cruise Lake Nahuel Huapi, ride the cable car up Cerro Campanario for panoramic views, and enjoy short, rewarding hikes through forests and along the shoreline. Wander the town for Swiss-style chocolates, artisan shops, and cozy cafés. Don’t leave without indulging in Bariloche’s famous artisanal chocolates, fresh lake trout, and Patagonian lamb.

Recommended: 3–5 days

Vibe: Relaxed nature with light hiking and adventure options

Flights from BA: Very frequent direct flights (multiple per day)

Inter-destination: Seasonal direct flights from/to Mendoza

El Calafate & El Chaltén (Southern Patagonia)

El Calafate is your gateway to the mighty Perito Moreno Glacier — walk the boardwalks for front-row views of massive icebergs calving into the lake, or take a boat tour for an even closer look. A short scenic drive or bus ride away, El Chaltén is Argentina’s hiking capital, with world-class trails to the iconic Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre peaks, turquoise lakes, and glacier viewpoints. Don’t miss the famous Patagonian lamb (cordero patagónico) and desserts made with the local calafate berry.

Recommended: 4–6 days total (2–3 in each town)

Vibe: Hiking & adventure oriented

Flights from BA: Frequent direct flights to Calafate (no direct to Chaltén — easy 3-hour bus from Calafate airport)

Inter-destination: Direct flights between Calafate and Ushuaia often available

Ushuaia (End of the World)

The southernmost city on Earth, Ushuaia sits dramatically between jagged mountains and the Beagle Channel. Take a boat cruise to spot penguins, sea lions, and whales, explore Tierra del Fuego National Park on easy trails, or visit the penguin colony at Isla Martillo. In town, the Maritime Museum and cozy cafés make for relaxing downtime. Be sure to try the delicious centolla (king crab) and other fresh seafood, plus Patagonian lamb.

Recommended: 3–5 days

Vibe: Adventure & nature with some relaxed boat trips

Flights from BA: Daily or near-daily direct flights

Inter-destination: Occasional direct flights to/from El Calafate

Salta (Northwest)

Nicknamed “La Linda” (the beautiful one), Salta blends colonial charm with dramatic red-rock canyons and high Andean scenery. Wander the charming plaza and historic cathedral, ride the famous Tren a las Nubes for epic mountain views, and explore the colorful hills of Purmamarca or the Cafayate wine region. Don’t miss the juicy empanadas salteñas, hearty locro stew, humitas, and tamales — some of the country’s best.

Recommended: 3–4 days

Vibe: Culture, scenery, and light adventure (train rides, road trips)

Flights from BA: Frequent direct flights (multiple per day)

Inter-destination: Direct flights to/from Mendoza and occasional links to Córdoba

Córdoba (Central Hills)

Argentina’s second-largest city offers a relaxed university-town vibe with beautiful colonial architecture and rolling green hills. Visit the historic Jesuit missions (a UNESCO site), wander the vibrant downtown plazas, and take short hikes or drives into the nearby Sierras de Córdoba. Enjoy the lively café scene and local empanadas. Be sure to try empanadas cordobesas and excellent cheeses and cured meats from the sierras.

Recommended: 2–4 days

Vibe: Relaxed cultural & nature mix

Flights from BA: Very frequent direct flights (short ~1.5-hour flight)

Península Valdés / Puerto Madryn (Patagonia Coast)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s top spots for marine wildlife. October and November is peak season for southern right whales — watch mothers with calves from boat tours out of Puerto Pirámides or from shore viewpoints. Spot orcas (especially at Punta Norte), sea lions, elephant seals, penguins, and guanacos on scenic drives and short hikes. You can also snorkel with sea lions or relax on the rugged coastline.

Don’t miss the super-fresh seafood (especially local fish and shellfish) and classic Patagonian lamb asado.

Recommended: 3–4 days

Vibe: Nature & wildlife focused, relaxed with light adventure options

Flights from BA: Frequent direct flights to Trelew (REL) or Puerto Madryn (PMY) — about 2 hours

Inter-destination: Limited; usually via BA

Feel free to mix and match — many guests combine 2–3 places (e.g., Bariloche + Mendoza, or Calafate + Ushuaia). If you’re planning a longer trip, we’re happy to share more personalized recommendations!
